As noted on our homepage, The Office of the University Ombudsperson is not authorized to accept notice of allegations of violations of law or other formal complaints. No employee or other University constituent may compel the Office of the University Ombudsperson to disclose information. By electing to utilize the voluntary services offered by the Office of the University Ombudsperson, visitors agree to abide by its confidentiality standard of practice and terms of use, including never seeking to compel the Office of the University Ombudsperson to disclose any information received as part of providing ombuds services in any other forum, including a formal grievance or lawsuit.

In Case of Emergency
If you believe your life is in imminent danger and you cannot keep yourself safe, or you or someone else has decided to seriously harm or kill yourself/themselves or someone else, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room, if it is safe to do so. The nearest emergency room to MSU East Lansing campus is McLaren Greater Lansing: 2900 Collins Rd, Lansing MI (3.1 miles from Olin Health Center). Phone: (517) 975-6000.
Crisis Resources for Students
Counseling and Psychiatric Services at MSU has also put together resources for students in crisis. If you need support, you may find more information on their website. Additionally, 24/7 virtual crisis counseling is available. Students can call CAPS at (517) 355-8270 and press "1" at the prompt to speak with a crisis counselor.
